Press Release Writing Tips

  • Try to include your primary keyword in the title of your press release.
  • Try to keep your press release between 300 and 1,000 words long.
  • Write your press release in the third person.  Never use “I” or “we”.
  • Remember, your press release should not read as an ad.  It should read as a news story.
  • At some point in the release, you should use a paragraph to include a quote from someone at the company . For example, if you had fifteen to twenty seconds on television or radio to say something about a point or points in the release, what would you say?
  • Be sure to proofread your press release.  Check for typos, spelling errors and grammatical errors.
